The idea for building a child sponsorship programme was born in spring 2009.

Every Sunshine Kid was to receive one sponsor, whose monthly donation of 15€ would allow for transport to school, after-school care and food for the day.

Within an incredible 2 weeks, enough sponsors were found for all children!!! The sponsors come from all over the world: Germany, France, England, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and Australia.

Since May 2009, money flowing in on a monthly basis covers many fixed costs. This has contributed immensely towards securing the continuity of the project.

At this point, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all sponsors for being so fast and flexible in their willingness to help!

All sponsors have received an individual report including a photo of “their“ child. The sponsors will be informed annually about the development of their child, and our supporters all over the world can of course expect a small Christmas surprise.

Until the present, the children have received numerous letters and parcels from their sponsors, and each time it is very touching to witness with how much joy the children respond.

So far it has unfortunately not been possible to respond to single letters and parcels individually and to thank for them, simply due to limited manpower. Thus we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to all donors.

For the future, we are planning to involve older children more in the project work, such as writing thank-you letters together with the children who have received gifts.

Please be kindly reminded that all letters should be written in English. Kuku and Priti Arora will translate them orally into Hindi. With regard to presents, we can only repeat that the children are happy about all kinds of things. They own absolutely nothing! They are happy to find sharpeners and rubbers in the parcels, or about a winter jersey which is sent to them.

Funny hair clips for a girl or a spiderman figure for a boy...the ideas are unlimited, since everything the children will receive will probably be the first thing they own.

It also deserves a brief mention that the children are not accustomed to parental attention. The sign of appreciation which is expressed through a personal (!) letter is more worth to them than any commercial item!
